MSHT Response Work - Sarah's Place. September 12, 2023

The Salvation Army and Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (MSHT) Response Work - Canada and Bermuda Territory - Sarah's Place

Key Points:

  1. Sarah’s Place is a place of healing. It allows those who live there a time to pause physically, spiritually and emotionally and discover or rediscover who they are. A big part of this is making connections with others and in community.

  2. “Nothing about without” – we are survivor informed with staff being predominantly lived experience. This is “with” and not “for” or “to”.

  3. We are trying to erase the line between Us and Them. Honoring the dignity of all people that we as The Salvation Army are ministering with means we get the privilege of meeting people that impact and inform each of us as much as we hope our programs and spaces impact and inform them. We can tend to forget this – that those we do ministry with/serve are amazing encouragers, evangelists and teachers. Participants offer and give the community/the world as much as anyone.
