On behalf of the Territorial Commander, I am pleased to share with you the following senior reserved and reserved appointments effective July 2, 2010:
Senior Reserved Appointments
Major Junior Hynes, Divisional Commander, Prairie Division, is appointed as Secretary for Program Services with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel.
Major Verna Hynes, Divisional Director of Women's Ministries - Prairie Division & Area Commander for Manitoba, is appointed as Assistant Territorial Secretary for Women's Ministries with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel.
Reserved Appointments
Major Everett Barrow, Territorial Corps Ministries Secretary, is appointed as Divisional Commander, Prairie Division.
Major Violet Barrow, Chaplain, The Scarborough Hospital, is appointed as Divisional Director of Women's Ministries - Prairie Division & Area Commander for Manitoba.
Major Doug Lewis, Divisional Commander, Bermuda Division is appointed as Territorial Property Secretary.
Major Elizabeth Lewis, Divisional Director of Women's Ministries & Divisional Community Care Ministries Secretary, Bermuda Division, is appointed as Corps Ministries Secretary.
Major Shawn Critch, Territorial Property Secretary is appointed as Divisional Commander, Bermuda Division.
Major Brenda Critch, Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief & Literary Secretary, is appointed as Divisional Director of Women's Ministries & Divisional Community Care Ministries Secretary, Bermuda Division.
Concurrent with these appointments, the Territorial Headquarter's Corps Ministries Department will undergo restructuring. This will entail the re-establishment of a Territorial Youth Department under the direction of Captain Mark Hall, Territorial Youth Secretary. In addition, Major Denise Walker is appointed Assistant Territorial Youth Secretary with responsibility for children and family ministries.
The Territorial Music Department will also be re-established under the direction of Major Kevin Metcalf as Territorial Music & Gospel Arts Secretary.

As The Salvation Army hospital chaplain in St. John's, N.L., retired Major Barb Pritchett is busier than ever.

Now 70, she struggles to lay down the mantle of ministry that she took up so many years ago. “It’s been a wonderful life,” she recalls. “I recently purchased a pillow that reads true for me: ‘Can’t stop, won’t stop.’ I am always very mindful of the fact that I represent God in these situations. There isn’t a lot I can say but my presence and prayer seem to comfort and support these families. It is indeed a privilege.”
