I agree that the Army is a bit old-fashioned in some ways but as far as I know, at least in Chicago they do really, really good job and I really love my friends who are working there! Everything depends on the people!

I grew up Presbyterian and often stated that I would not, and I mean would not join the Salvation Army,
However I got the message from the Holy Father up stairs and here I am today, both my wife and me. I even wear the high neck tunic and would not change. I am now a fire dept chaplain and work for Holy Cross School as security. I do not like all the moving of officers as we get programs going and have to start all over.

For example, although a retired bandsman with more than 40years of service, and a list of books I have never read ( but no opportunity to say so), the analysis welcomes me as 'soldier in training'. The questions were not really relevant. In our corps, the adults get together to go to a different restaurant every Sunday. We don't have the ones mentioned! We have no Friday night activities. The heritage museum is hundreds of miles away. There hasn't been an open air meeting since I arrived at this corps!
