The Salvation Army’s Jackson’s Point Retreat and Conference Centre (JPRCC) in Georgina, Ont., celebrated its grand reopening in November. The event was attended by approximately 100 guests, including leaders and members of The Salvation Army, Georgina Mayor Margaret Quirk and member of Parliament Scot Davidson (York-Simcoe), as well as representatives from the Town of Georgina’s tourism department and the local chamber of commerce.
The retreat and conference centre has undergone significant updates designed to enhance the guest experience. Newly refreshed rooms feature plush linens, modern lighting and ceiling fans, and common areas have been upgraded with new flooring and furniture. JPRCC’s vision also includes exciting new amenities, such as pickleball courts, a state-of-the-art gym, an updated games room and a “think tank” classroom designed for strategic planning and creative collaboration. A curated tuck shop offers guests wood-fired pizzas, funnel cakes and a poutine bar.
These changes reflect a renewed vision for JPRCC. With its tagline “Come away with me, to a quiet place, and find rest” (see Mark 6:31), the refreshed centre aims to offer guests a sanctuary of rest, restoration and spiritual renewal.
Lt-Colonel Brian Armstrong, divisional commander, Ontario Division, opened the ceremony by reflecting on the theme verse: “This verse captures the essence of what this space has always been and will continue to be: a sanctuary where people can step away, connect with God and find rest for their souls. Today, we unveil not just a refreshed facility but a renewed vision.”
The ceremony featured words of encouragement by both Quirk and Davidson, who highlighted the importance of JPRCC as an anchor in the community. With a fresh focus on delivering an elevated culinary and food experience at JPRCC, the new head chef, Lawrence Mitchell, was presented with a Salvation Army chef’s coat—a symbol of his commitment to creating memorable dining experiences for all guests.
The Army’s Georgina Community Church brass band performed musical selections, and Lt-Colonel Lynn Armstrong, divisional officer personnel secretary and divisional secretary for spiritual life development, offered a prayer of rededication over the newly renovated space, followed by a ribbon cutting by Army personnel and dignitaries.
Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to join a guided tour of the updated facilities, exploring the new rooms, updated dining areas and other amenities.
“Jackson’s Point Retreat and Conference Centre is more than just a physical space; it is a place where ministry happens, where lives are touched and where hearts are renewed,” says Lt-Colonel Brian Armstrong. “It is where individuals, families and groups can come to experience the still, small voice of God calling them to rest, restoration and new beginnings.”

Hi, congratulations on a job will done for God’s work. My heart is blessed to know that everything is back in order. I was a cook at JP camping area back 2006 and I got to know the workers at the conference centre. I loved it, I worked at TSA Twin ponds camp for years before JP camp. I was wondering if you have retreats for women or anything that included preaching and teaching if I could become aware of them. Ever since I became a Soldier back 1987 and found out about JP conference centre it was my prayer and hope to attend a conference. Now after being there it excites me just to come a be blessed by God. I’m from Musgrave Harbour,Newfoundland and I know I’m far away but that doesn’t matter. God bless your Ministry at Jackson point conference center. I’ll be praying for you and all events that take place.
