Message from the Territorial Commander
Re: 2018 Partners in Mission Campaign
As I reflect on the past year and look to the promise of the year ahead, I pause to thank God for His continuous provision and many blessings. As I travelled across the territory in 2017, I was continually reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness.
During the past year I was also reminded of the incredible work The Salvation Army undertakes every day in countries around the world. It has been said that “the sun never sets on The Salvation Army flag”, but more importantly, it means that the work we are called to is unending – because where there are people – we find opportunity for ministry. God has blessed us – and we are a “Salvation” Army, an army of compassion, and it is with this in mind, that I invite you to once again consider the world-wide ministry of The Salvation Army.
The 2017 Partners in Mission Campaign was a grand success due to the generosity of Salvationists and divisions across the territory. Thank you for your outstanding support! Looking ahead, the 2018 Partners in Mission goal for the Canada & Bermuda Territory is $2.3 million. This is an increase over 2017, however, given the ministry opportunities before The Salvation Army internationally, we need to prayerfully consider how together we can meet this goal.
Partners in Mission funds are distributed by international headquarters to territories around the world. Once again, I am reminded of our international motto: One Army, One Mission, One Message and I reach out to you as a ministry partner, to help us meet our $2.3 million territorial objective. I also invite you to use the excellent campaign resource materials provided by the World Missions Department.
Friends, in closing, let me leave with you the word of the Apostle Paul as recorded in Philippians 1: “In every prayer for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Thank you for your partnership in ministry and for your outpouring of love to the marginalized and those that we are called to serve.
God bless you and every best wish for 2018.
